Sycamore Course – Holy Spirit Pathway

  • Event Date: Wed, 28/09/2022
  • Time: 7:00 pm
  • Location: St Joseph's
  • Address: Ripley DE5 3LW
You are most welcome to take part in a series of get togethers during Autumn using an adult faith formation programme called Sycamore.
Everyone is invited to attend this course.  It is an opportunity to be together, reflect on our faith and consider what it means to us.
As we look to become missionary disciples, I am reminded of the advice I received upon entering the teaching profession … “Know yourself well: you teach who you are”.
Knowing our faith more deeply, and what it means to us, helps us when we come to share our faith with others…whether this is just by talking or in the way we live our lives.
The sessions consist of short video clips and time for discussion within a small table group.
You can contribute as much or as little as you want.  If you simply listen that will still be valuable.
No one will be asked to give feedback about the discussions or produce a flip-chart sheet!  It is just coming together to have a conversation about our faith.

There will be food provided at the beginning of each session; sharing a meal is a real act of community. To be able to set out the hall in the best way, and to plan the catering requirements, we need to know numbers attending.
You can sign up for the course by emailing me [phil1965smith@gmail.com] or signing on the list that will be at the back of the church as you leave Mass each Sunday.  You can indicate if you intend to attend all sessions, just specific ones or contact me on a weekly basis.
The programme is as follows:
(WEEK 1 14 September) THE COMMUNITY OF THE CHURCH – Why do we need the Church? The special place of the Catholic Church. Being Catholic today.
(WEEK 2 21 September) THE SACRAMENTS OF BAPTISM AND CONFIRMATION – The power of the sacraments and the liturgy. How baptism can change your life. Confirmation and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
