From Sarah Bradbury of Belper Chaplaincy – Thanks for support
Dear Friends
A very big thank you for your kind gift of £50, as well as your much appreciated gifts of as new goods and clothing, and thoughtful gifts of food and treats.
In the last few weeks there has been a big emphasis on the need for good clothing. This has been especially important for the poor single men who come to the Food Bank Hub, and of course the Chevin House lads. Through your donations, and kind donations of good clothing, we have been able to clothe a significant number of men, old and young, who need some care and to know that someone cares for them.
I bought some hats, T shirts and fleeces from Ashgate hospice outlet again (in Matlock). The manager knows why I am buying them, so she let me have hats gloves and scarves for £1 each, and the clothing (including two waterproof jackets) for £2 each. So very kind! I put some out at the Food Bank with recent clothing donations, and keep a lot back for certain chaps who are in particular need.
Two of the bigger lads from Chevin were very pleased to have a big jumper and a big fleese top, they were chuffed to bits. One of the younger lads had several T shirts, as he only had two before. Everyone was very glad to be thought of, and have a share. You have bought a pair of trainers which the Lighthouse staff reduced for me for the lad at Chevin who only had a pair of trainers with a hole in the sole. He was thrilled to bits.
“They will also answer, ‘Lord when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’”
Matthew 25:44
With blessings and thanks
Sarah
