Agape Youth
Overview
The Agape Youth group was founded in 2013 as the youth group for the Catholic Parish of Belper and Duffield after many years during which no such group existed.
The Agape group started monthly meetings in March 2014 and switched to bi-weekly meetings in September.
Mission statement
“We like to come together and share food, friendships and God. AGAPE Youth stands for Adore God as we Grow spiritually as Christ followers, in order to Accomplish acts of service as we Pursue the lost and Encourage one another through agape love.”
Membership profile
Currently, the group has 15 young people aged between 11 and 18 signed up as members.
Group leadership
The group is led by Jannice Richthof. Jannice lived most of her life in Florida, where she used to be Youth Pastor for different non-denominational Christian churches, and has many years of experience in leading small and large Christian youth groups. Jannice completed a volunteer year for the Assumption Lay Volunteer Project (Sisters of Assumption, Kensington, London) in Newcastle upon Tyne in 2010, moved to Belper in 2012 and became a Catholic in 2014.
